Cheryl Johnson Watts is running for Mayor of the City of Allentown, PA. Cheryl currently serves as an Allentown School Board Director and has determined that to create the best outcomes for our city’s children; she must create greater opportunity and an improved quality of life for their parents. She has served as co-chair of the Finance Committee from day one on the board and oversaw an audit process that unveiled a deficit that through special legislation has been resolved. She also serves on the Human Relations Commission for the City of Allentown, as well as volunteers with community activist organizations including Make the Road PA and the NAACP Allentown Unit. Her African American and Panamanian heritage have given her a unique insight into the concerns of Allentown's diverse population which is close to 50% Latino. Prior to political involvement, Cheryl acquired more than 20 years of global experience connecting people, creating synergy and creating opportunities in Europe and Latin America while working for MTV Networks, the National Basketball Association, her own consulting practice and Euromoney Institutional Investor where she produced conferences on Public Pension Investment and Municipal Finance. From 2012 through 2017 she was a Financial Advisor serving the Lehigh Valley. Her meetings with 100’s of families shaped her understanding of financial dynamics in the Lehigh Valley. Cheryl graduated from Princeton University in 1985 with a degree in Romance Languages and Literature.
